Story
Times are tough for us all, especially charities. Thousands of fundraising events across the UK have been cancelled due to Covid-19 with a devastating impact on charity income that means many charities are facing closure. The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) CEO Karl Wilding estimates that the UK charity sector will lose £4 billion in income as a result of the pandemic. But our work continues to grow as vulnerable people need our services more than ever.
At Clean Break we are working hard to ensure that our community remains vital. Through regular telephone check-ins and therapy for our Members, increasing our hardship fund, working on practical needs such as food, housing and safety, and working to get our Members online. We have also created an online creative programme to emulate something of the creative port in the storm for women who have been to prison or who are at risk of entering the criminal justice system.
We are also launching a new letter writing project for women in prisons, many of whom are currently in their cells for 23 hours a day and a project to connect professional Artists with our Member artists to explore what collaboration looks like during times of isolation.
We are busy. Our work is vital. And we need your help.
