Story
I am very excited to announce that I will be running the London Marathon 2020 for Children’s Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF). CLDF are dedicated to fighting all childhood liver diseases. There are over 100 different types of liver diseases that can affect babies, children and young people.
I wanted to run for CLDF for my close Family Friends’ Son. Freddie was born on the 2ndSeptember 2016 and was shortly after diagnosed with Biliary Atresia (a childhoods liver disease). Biliary Atresia is where the bile flow from the liver to the gallbladder is blocked, this leads to the bile to be trapped inside the liver, causing damage and eventually liver failure. This affects around 1 in 15,000 babies.
After just 1 month and 1 day of being on the transplant list, on 20thMay 2017, Freddie was taken in to surgery for a liver transplant. This was in total an 8 hour operation. Freddie has had numerous hospital visits and stays, but our little superhero is doing incredibly well and is now a fantastic big brother to his little sister Olivia.
I am honoured to be running for CLDF.
