Demelza have been there for us throughout the majority of Malia's life.  However they have supported us in ways beyond belief during her brain surgery in the summer of 2020 and especially during her final last months this year.  

Covid has added another awful element to this difficult time and continues to create barriers in the way we want to celebrate her life and pay our respects.  It has robbed us of valuable time with so many of the people we love and care about.

We will be forever grateful for the support and care Demelza have provided us with.  Their nurses and carers are exceptional and it is very evident that their roles to them are far more than 'just a job'.

Many people have the perception you go to a hospice just to die, yes that is correct but what they really do is enable children and families to live.  It is true they help make every moment count and when days cannot be added to lives they ensure life is added to days.

They look after not only the Demelza child but the family as a whole including the grandparents.  Over the years we have benefited from nurses, carers, respite, therapy, family support, symptom management, practical support, sibling groups, attended many events and meet ups, through these in turn we made life long friendships.  Most of all Demelza gave us quality time as a family when it was most needed most during her end of life care.  If Malia had of been in hospital we never would have been able to be together as a family.

Life will never be the same without our precious girl.  She influenced and touched the lives of so many.  Even without a voice she had the power to teach so many skills and life lessons to people.  We are so proud to call her our daughter and will never stop loving or missing her.
