Story
In 2020 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour. This was an incredibly scary period for me and my family but thankfully, due to the support of some fantastic people, I was lucky enough to have surgery and for the cancer to be removed.
I had an "awake craniotomy" whereby surgeons operated on my brain for eight hours, where I had to remain awake and alert so they could monitor my condition. This treatment was only possible because of the ground breaking research that organisations such as Brain Research UK make possible.
I was extremely fortunate to have received such amazing care and support. But sadly too many people are unable to receive successful treatment, either because the tumours are too "aggressive", the cancer has gone undetected for too long or simply because the potential treatment is too invasive for someone to cope with.
More under 40's are killed by brain tumours than any other cancer and yet it only receives 1% of total research funding into cancer treatments. Brain Research UK is working to increase this by supporting research into brain tumour treatment.
In addition to fighting brain cancers, Brain Research UK also works to support research into other neurological conditions. Their specific priorities are brain tumours, brain and spinal injury as well as headaches and facial pains. This includes treatment for cancers, epilepsy, migraines, alzheimer's disease and stroke treatment, just to list a few.
Please consider supporting me in my fundraising and donate to Brain Research UK. Brain Research UK's mission it so provide support to vital research.
