Your donations will go towards supporting the work of GX through International Citizen Service (ICS) and will enable ICS to continue sending youth volunteers, like me, to the developing world to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged and impoverished communities. Every penny counts and all the money I raise will go straight to ICS. So please dig deep! I really need your help to reach my target and play my part in fighting poverty through ICS.
My project is in Nigeria, where I will spend 3 months from April 2012 working closely with people suffering from AIDS/HIV and helping raise awareness in local communities. Our partner organization is EVA (education as a Vaccine for AIDS) and if you'd like to find out more about them, visit their website.

I'll know more about my project closer to the time, but all the info about the charities as a whole can be found on their website.
Now - A Bit More About VSO!!
VSO is the world’s leading independent international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries.
VSO runs a programme called Global Exchange (GX). GX run 2 programmes: Youth Xchange is a 6 month programme where young people spend 12 weeks on a project in the UK, and 12 weeks on a project abroad. I am going on a Youth Action project, which sends young volunteers to work in a community overseas for 12 weeks. Both programmes focus on putting young people at the centre of efforts to combat poverty and inequality, by giving them a chance to join other young people to work on important projects in developing countries
VSO works in partnership with the Department For International Development, (DfID) and this year is the first year it is with the International Citizenship Service (ICS). “ICS provides Global Xchange with the opportunity to harness the power of young people to make a real contribution to development”

UPDATE 03/02/2012
The sponsered event I'll be doing is a COAST TO COAST CYCLE RIDE, spanning from Workington in Cumbria, on the west coast, to Teeside, Northumbria, on the east. I will be accompanied by two friends for morale support, and its our intention to complete the journey in 48 hours... its 140 miles, so not going to be easy. AND to make things interesting, a bit more fun and to raise further awareness of the cause, we are going to wear African animal costumes!!!
