Story
On 2nd August, 2015, in memory of Max, my Dad, I'm taking part in a 100 mile cycle ride on Max's bicycle to raise money for the Hospice of St Francis.
As a keen cyclist himself, Max persuaded me, at the tender age of 12 to take to the road and join him youth hostelling. Over the years we cycled many hundreds of miles; the Cornish Coast, the Cotswolds, the Isle of Wight. We even took our bicycles on the aeroplane to Germany where we cycled along the river Rhine and into Switzerland. The memories of these holidays will always be with me. Max, in his ever patient way, cajoled me to cycle the miles fuelled with marzipan and nuts and even pushed my bicycle up the hills on the odd occasion.
As an incentive to get fit and raise money to support the excellent work of the Hospice of St Francis the RideLondon100 event seemed like the ideal opportunity.
After a long fight against cancer, Max spent his last weeks at the Hospice of St Francis, Berkhamsted. The hospice is a truly remarkable place providing the highest level of care, dignity and respect for patients and their families. Please help me continue to fund their work and support to families in their hour of need.
