Story

Completed fundraisers: 5000 squats in February, virtual Kahoot quiz night

In August this year I will be trekking to Everest Base Camp in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation; a charity which aims to research and raise awareness of two serious diseases, Meningitis and Septicaemia. I will be doing this alongside 29 other students as we pledge to raise a total of more than £80,000 for MRF ahead of our departure (£3190 each).

Shockingly, meningitis and neonatal sepsis are the second biggest infectious killer of children under the age of five on the planet, affecting more than 5 million people every year! They can kill you within 12 hours and are responsible for more deaths of children under 5 than malaria, measles, tetanus and AIDS combined.

Meningitis Research Foundations work is providing better access to vaccines, health systems that can diagnose and treat children, and support to survivors of meningitis. Thanks to ongoing support they've pioneered a global roadmap, bringing together global expertise to defeat meningitis by 2030.

It's time to make meningitis a global health priority, please support my team and I as much as you possibly can. Every penny counts xxx

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
