Story
Jim died peacefully in his sleep at home on 23 November with his family by his side. He had been ill with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) for a number of years and had fought the illness courageously and uncomplainingly, which was typical of his character.
We had been married for 56 wonderful years and we enjoyed a very happy life together, particularly when we were able to indulge our passion for foreign travel following his retirement from his career as a bank manager.
Jim will be sadly missed by both family and friends and, rather than floral tributes, would like donations to be made to Sarcoma UK, a cancer charity. This charity is close to his heart because his prospective granddaughter-in-law was diagnosed with sarcoma earlier this year and is undergoing treatment at The Christie Hospital. He would like others to benefit from the research and support funded by Sarcoma UK into this dreadful and indiscriminate disease.
