Story
The Christie charity is aiming to raise £23 million for the proposed construction of a new centre in Macclesfield where Christie patients will be able to receive outstanding cancer care, closer to home.
The Christie at Macclesfield is due for completion and aims to be ready to receive its first patients in November 2021.
My wife Barbara was originally diagnosed with lung cancer at Macclesfield hospital in September 2013 two months after she retired.
Her treatment at the Christie between November 2013 and October 2015 was excellent including several new trial drugs which have benefitted other patients in their treatment. Sadly she died from the disease which had spread through her body in October 2015.
The major proposals for the Christie at Macclesfield will be a great benefit for patients living within the East Cheshire, High Peak and North Staffs areas.
