Fundraising for CAMFED
Story
Please help me raise money for a very worthy cause: girls' educations in Africa. CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education) is a British-based charity working in rural Africa dedicated to supporting and extending girls' educations. CAMFED focuses on girls because they are more likely than boys to drop out of school when poor families are struggling to make ends meet.
If girls are given a chance to finish their education, they will be able to improve their life and the lives of their families and future children. It's that simple. One girl supported by CAMFED said: "If only I get the chance, I will do something great." She is now a doctor.
Donating through this site is easy, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: CAMFED International will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. If you are in the U.S., you don't need to worry about pound/dollar conversions, as your credit card will do the work for you.
By sponsoring me for just one pound per mile, you can send one primary school girl to school for one year. I am hoping that my efforts in the London Marathon will be enough to fill a few classrooms in Africa.
The more you give, the more girls we can send to school, giving me more inspiration to complete this challenge. As a mother to two boys, I feel very strongly that this is a great way to do something for girls for a change.
