Story

Maureen (Mum) passed away from pancreatic cancer on 3rd June 2020. Having been diagnosed in June the previous year and being told it was not curable was one, if not the hardest thing, she and we as a family have ever had to handle. Her sheer strength and determination throughout this last year is an inspiration to us all.

Mum had a continual and unwavering want to care for others which is a personality trait she brought into her role as a nurse. This was a job she dedicated much of her life to alongside bringing up her children in the best way she possibly could and any child could have possibly dreamed of. Having gone from one who wishes to care for others to being the person being cared for was not a position she was comfortable in, however she took it, as expected, in her stride and fought for life to the very end.

In that fight we owe a great thank you to the support of both the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, supported by the Beatson Cancer Charity, and equally Strathcarron Hospice. From giving her
the tools to fight this dreadful disease and also assure her the best quality of life, is something we will be endlessly grateful for. In mums memory we wish to fundraise for these causes to ensure that
others are guaranteed at least the same support and care that she so deservedly received.

Forever in our hearts mum xxx
