An ‘old’ school friend of mine, is a Trustee of this charity which helps feed children in South Africa with a daily breakfast of a nutritious porridge, for some, their only meal of the day. It costs just £20 a year to feed one child.
Covid has decimated the funds as the need has increased, and fundraising opportunities have been scarce. Pre-school children suffer most as poor nutrition affects both their mental and their physical development.
In January GRCT have planned a virtual walk around all their feeding stations in South Africa (a total of 2,300 miles) and together with another ‘old’ school friend I have pledged to walk or cycle a total of 150 miles of it in January. That equates to 5 miles every day whatever the weather, plus one day off, but it will be worth the effort.
