Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been trying to get my celebratory challenge underway for some time. In 2015 I spectacularly went over my handlebars and broke my collarbone which put me out of action for a while. I was going to be Cycling in Tanzania, I transferred to Cambodia/Vietnam but somehow I just couldn't get my training back on track, I think the uncertain road conditions together with heat and humidity were putting me off. So, when End2End came up I jumped at the chance. All roads are tarmac and I can deal with British weather - perfect.
1000 miles over 12 days. I actually can't wait.
Those who know me well know I am now a (nearly) 12 year BC survivor. By the time the challenge comes up it will be nearly 13 years. I got through the treatment thanks to NHS Scotland and the support I received from friends, family and work. I am Godmother to Lucy. While I was lucky to get to the end and beyond my treatment her other Godmother, Marian, lost her fight against Ovarian Cancer. I am doing this for her too.
During my journey I met many wonderful women who fought so hard but lost their battle. Unfortunately there are still too many out there. This challenge is for them, some of whom touched my life and gave me the courage and strength I needed to fight and I'm channelling that to do this amazing challenge.
It is definitely time to give something back. Something that will help many women who still have the journey ahead of them. My fundraising will help not only those facing Breast Cancer but Cervical and Ovarian Cancers too.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
