Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Hi everyone,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. As some of you will know, I'm heading down under for a couple of weeks to visit friends and enjoy some sunshine.

After a 24 hour flight, I'm certainly going to need to stretch my legs so I'm setting myself a personal challenge of walking 100,000 steps in 2 weeks and I'm doing it to raise money for Parkinson's UK.

This incredible charity funds groundbreaking research and provides support so that no one has to face Parkinson's alone. Walking all this way will certainly be a bit easier knowing this fundraising campaign is helping to improve the lives of some of the 127,000 people in the UK suffering with this condition.

So here are just a few examples of how your support can make a difference:

  • £5 could pay for the Parkinson's UK 'Being There' DVD to be sent to someone recently diagnosed with Parkinson's
  • £14 could pay for a helpline adviser to give someone newly diagnosed the support and information they need
  • £20 could fund an hour of care from a specialist Parkinson's nurse.
  • £40 could pay for an education session in a hospital ward
  • £250 could fund a day of research

Thank you so much for your support and don't forget to follow my journey on Instagram! I'll be posting lots of pictures along the way.

Maureen xx
