An update – The Day After…
“Despite the atrocious weather” - as the official race report opens, and they’re not kidding, it was terrible - I did it! I completed the 10 miles in 01:34:48, which given the cold, wind and pouring rain I’m really pleased with.
I’d just like to say a big thank you to the many generous sponsors who backed my endeavour, and a special thanks to my support team (who are probably still drying out) for cheering me along on the day.
Next stop - a marathon? Who knows? One step at a time, I’ve got to learn to walk again first! ;-)
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page...
I still can’t quite believe I’m seriously considering a 10 mile run after the past few years have seen me do little more than the occasional sprint for a train!
Still, that’s the plan, and for the first time in my life I’m going to attempt to run/walk/stagger/crawl the distance in order that I might give a little something back to the hospital that have taken such good care of my wife, Zoë, over the past year.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So thanks in advance for any donation you make, as your support is greatly appreciated, and will definitely help to spur me on... Hopefully all the way to the finish line!
Matt
