Story
Unfortunately, back in November 2018 - just 5 months after getting married, my husband Matt suffered a seizure in the early hours of the morning - MRI & CT scan determined the cause.. a brain tumour.
Matt underwent surgery at Addenbrookes in January 2019 and thankfully the whole tumour was removed - unfortunately, the biopsy was not the result we were hoping for as Matt's tumour was an aggressive grade 3 malignant - an Anaplastic Astrocytoma & can only be treated not cured!
Matt has just finished a 6 week course of Radiotherapy treatment at the Norfolk and Norwich hospital, then in May will then start a 12 month course of Chemotherapy. However, even though the whole tumour was removed, the miniscule cells left cannot be completely killed by the Radiotherapy & Chemotherapy meaning the tumour will return at some point in 3-5 years time, to which we will have to assess the whole situation again.
The Brain Tumour Charity is at the forefront of the fight to defeat brain tumours, making a difference every day to the lives of people with a brain tumour and their families. We fund pioneering research to increase survival, raise awareness of the symptoms and effects of brain tumours and provide support for everyone affected to improve quality of life. We are committed to having the biggest possible impact for every person affected by a brain tumour, and to defending the most amazing part of the human body.
