UPDATE (14 Dec 21) - I can smell the finish line...
With the exception of having very tired legs from too much stopping around in boots as a youngster, the running distance hasn’t been too difficult – after all, what else do you do in a full lock-down, if you don’t own a dog?
However… You may remember that when we went into our Nationwide lockdown on the evening of the 4th January it resulted in pool closures, amongst a few other things. After 3km in the River Avon, severe hypothermia and a Weils disease scare, I elected to wait for the pools to be unlocked and started swimming hard on 29th March. Since then I have swum, on average:
54 lengths per day (1.36km) / 380 lengths per week (9.5km)
Needless to say my old body has not remained injury free (a nasty ear infection, tricky achilles tendons and nottodayitis). And sometimes work and family got in the way of my Matt’s Metres challenge. Out of necessity, many weekly swim distances have exceeded 12kms.

A big thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. All money raised here goes directly to my chosen charity - Young Bristol.
This is going to be a cheeky challenge and is far from a 'done deal', especially if the pools close or my little legs give out before the kilometrage is done.
I'm aiming to swim 333km (one third) and run 667km (two thirds) between 1st January and 31st December 2021.
