Story
I served in the British Army with The Corp of Royal Engineers, In 2005 I left the Army as injuries were preventing me from having the career I had hoped for. After years of struggling with pain and ongoing injuries I became a member of The Band of Brothers and a beneficiary of Help for Heroes. I have seen and experienced the great work they do and will continue to support them for as long as I am able.
I first took part in the BBBR in 2013, a week I will never forget, Cycling from Paris to London, probably the biggest year for the BBBR, finishing with a mass ride through London, along the Mall and into Horse guards parade. This will be my 6th BBBR and 10th year in total having taken part in this and many other events every year. When not on the BBBR I have cycled the same distance in the UK, similar events running along side the BBBR known as Hero Rides. Myself and some fellow veterans also continued with our fundraising during Covid, cycling hundreds of miles within the UK, paying our respects to the fallen and continuing with the support to the charity.
I have met many wonderful people during my time spent with H4H but especially whilst on the BBBR, many of whom are now great friends. Fellow riders returning year after year, it is always great to catch up and spend time riding together.
This is by far the best event of its kind, the camaraderie, the people, the memories, the BBBR is a Life changing event, not just for the beneficiaries but for all involved, fellow riders, volunteers, support crew and all the H4H staff.
"Every day, men and women have to leave their career in the Armed Forces as a result of physical or psychological wounds. Your fundraising helps them recover and get on with their lives. So far we've supported more than 25,000 people and won’t stop until every veteran gets the support they deserve".
Please support me if you can and share with others. Hopefully we will see you on the ride next year, Join the BBBR family.
