Over a glass of something fortified recently, my neighbour Luc & I starting talking marathons. Owing to the fact that it is over 10 years since my last marathon (so clearly I've forgotten the pain involved) and that Luc has never run one before, we willingly challenged each other to run in the London 2012 marathon.

Having raised money previously for children's charities, I am proud to be involved with Sense.

Sense aims to help deafblind people of all ages and abilities along their path to leading a fulfilling life, in which they are able to effectively communicate with the world around them.

It's hard to imagine what it's like not to be able to see but harder still how to get through the day without the ability to hear as well; the sense of isolation is unthinkable.

£15 could pay for a tactile book to develop a child's sense of sight and touch at a Sense family centre.

£25 could buy an interactive light tube to help stimulate a deafblind child's remaining sight.

£50 could help pay for a deafblind child's vital first assessment.

£250 could kit out a home with sensory 'trails' enabling the deafblind residents to identify specific rooms, stairs etc enabling them to live in a safe, secure environment.

£2000 can help a group of deafblind people with a therapeutic course. This will pay for a course of weekly yoga or art therapy sessions at a specialist Sense day centre for a group of 5 people with their support workers.
