Story

A group of highly tuned athletes first came together for a common goal; to run the Birmingham Half Marathon in aid of SANDS. Well, now we have achieved that goal and raised £1,500 we thought we couldn't just stop there.

We have decided to continue raising money and our group of "athletes" is growing. Obviously to keep you suppoprting us we know that we have to raise the bar! So far for 2010 we have planned the Stafford Half Marathon in March, London Marathon in April, Birmingham Half Marathon in October and we are planning something special in July that will really test us to the limit. Please keep checking for further updates once it is confirmed.

We really appreciate all your support and would like to thank you in anticipation of your continued support and, hopefully, donations! Please join us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=photos&ref=mf&gid=242531723927#/group.php?v=wall&gid=242531723927

If you would like to get involved just let us know. The more the merrier.

From the Birmingham Half Marathon:

As a fitting way to remember our beautiful daughter Inés who was born still on , we will be running in her memory in this her first year anniversary

About the Charity we are raising money for: Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, is an organisation that offers support when a baby dies during pregnancy or after birth.

Why Sands is so relevant: Incredibly in the today, in spite of medical advances, many parents, their families and friends continue to have their lives quite literally turned upside down by the death of their baby.  17 babies a day are either stillborn or die within the first twenty eight days of life, over 6,500 babies dying every year.  Rates of stillbirth have remained relatively unchanged for 20 years and in fact are increasing.

Sands core aims are to:

support anyone affected by the death of a baby;

work with health professionals to improve the quality of care and services provided to bereaved parents and their families;

and promote changes in antenatal practice and to fund research that could help to reduce the loss of babies' lives and the number of families devastated by this tragedy.

Come and join our group on facebook and see how we are getting on http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=photos&ref=mf&gid=242531723927#/group.php?v=wall&gid=242531723927

So please sponsor us now and thank you for your support!
