Story
Hello,
As some of you know or may not know my old man is fighting cancer. He was diagnosed about 4 months ago now, and we found out the cancer is terminal. Our lives where turned upside down over night, but we as a family have started to overcome the diagnosis and are making the most out of a pretty dire situation. Since day one the Macmillan cancer support have been great, offering support, help and literally just been there for any problems that have come our way. Every two weeks i make the trip with my dad to Halton hospital for his chemotherapy, this takes place in the cantreat room. The nurses are fantastic, the energy they provide really lifts everyone in the room, and the job they do, they deserve more. There are also some other great characters within the building, most volunteers, coming round every half hour offering drinks, food, a joke or two. All free and with a smile of there faces.
so anyway, I've decided i want to give back to Macmillan, so on the 26th may ( sunday) I'm running the greater Manchester 10k run, and running on behalf of Macmillan cancer support, any funds i raise will go to the charity. People who know me, pretty much know Im a right lazy get sometimes , so even though it might not sound like a huge distance, for me it will be hard ( as judging on recent events involving a snowball, i'm no paula Radcliffe). So if you could spare a few quid i would be very grateful and if any of my mates feel like joining me in the event, let me know :D
cheers,
matt
