Story
Thanks for taking the time to view my page dedicated to the Kenyan Orphan Project charity, whom I am working in Kenya with this summer.
Heading out to the rural outskirts of Kisumu in Western Kenya, with 25 other medics, is an exciting prospect, and one I am very much looking forward to. With your help I hope to achieve the minimum donation of £750 that the charity asks for. I fund my part of the trip entirely myself and all money raised either 'online' or 'offline' will go directly to the charity to help them in their good work.
The Kenyan Orphan Project was founded in 2001 by students at the University of Nottingham's Medical School, where I am currently in first year. Its aim is to improve the lives of orphans and vulnerable children in Kenya, by fighting against poverty, disease, social exclusion and injustice.
The charity adopts a grass-roots and community led based approach, aware that sustainable and long term help are the ultimate aims. The areas of development KOP focuses on are widespread and cover nearly every aspect of life. These range from the basics such as adequate nutrition and water access so children can concentrate on their education through to the ever important medical care everyone is entitled to. Income generation for local communities and foster support for orphans are also important aspects of the charity's work.
Considering this, I plead with you to please dig deep and give to this very worthwhile cause. I would be very grateful for your support.
