Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We've decided using a bike is cheating so we've ditched them and have decided to go for a bit of a run instead.
We did actually do the London Marathon back in 1999, and at least one of us swore never to do another one. It only took Iain 18 years to get over the memory of that one, but it's taken me slightly longer and near enough twenty years on, I'm thinking it can't have been as bad as all that, surely...The question is will 20 years of experience count for more than 20 years of ageing, and can we beat our original time...
For those of you who don't know, our friends Kate and Andrew have an inspirational son called Toby. Toby has a form of muscular dystrophy called Duchenne. Duchenne is a genetic disorder impacting the muscles, resulting in a gradual loss of strength, most obviously in the arms and legs, but most dangerously in the heart and lungs too. Toby is confined to a wheelchair now, struggles to lift a cup up to his mouth, and can't even turn himself over in bed at night. Imagine that, he is only 14 years old.
Currently there is no cure for Duchenne and it is a life limiting illness. Action Duchenne funds research into potential cures and treatments, and provides support for the children and families impacted by this terrible condition.
Its not about the time of course, it's about having some fun and hopefully raising a little a bit of money for a great cause.
Anyway it would be lovely if you could support me along the way. We and Toby would be very grateful.
