Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Over the last 12 months I have lost my mum and dad to diabetes and cancer respectively. My mum also suffered with dementia at the end. During this time we have met some truly lovely people who cared and tended to my parents when they were ill. I have had time to reflect on what's happened and have decided I would like to raise some money for both Cancer research and Dementia uk. I'm sure everyone has a friend or loved one who has been affected by or taken by one of these terrible diseases.
So this year after discussions with my friends I have set myself 3 challenges, all to be completed with my friends.
27th April - The Yorkshire 3 Peaks.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, covering a distance of 24 miles in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range. I will be doing this with "Tracker" John Pendleton. John is 57 and reckons he's only got one 24 mile walk left in him!
13th May - The National 3 Peaks Challenge.
The National Three Peaks Challenge is an event in which participants attempt to climb the highest mountains of England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours. Lucas, my 10 year old son will be doing this with me to help raise money for his Nan & Grandad's charities. Also joining me and Lucas for this is Joel "Joely" Moore, Simon "Caza" Carrington and John "John Boy" McMahon. John's two sons, Callan & Jamie will also be walking the 3 Peaks with us whilst his other son , Josh, will be keeping our driver, Dave "Mad Dog" McCullough company at the wheel during driving and during our walks. Anyone wanting to join us for the final accent of Snowdon is more than welcome, (weather permitting of course).
21st May - The Chester Half Marathon.
There is no time limit on this one, I just want to finish it! Accompanying me for this is Nick Heywood. I don't expect him to be with me for long, probably about 1 mile and then he'll be off in the distance, (on the positive side it means he'll be first at the bar!).
All donations will be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt. :-)
