Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the 2013 London marathon for Arthritis Care because last year my son Sebastian, who was only 20 months at the time, was diagnosed with the Systemic form of Juvenile Arthritis. This form of the disease affects about 1200 children in the UK, is the rarest and potentially the most serious form of the disease. This form of arthritis affects his whole body with spiking fevers and rashes that come and go, aswell as small joint inflammation. When he was first diagnosed, the arthritis was shown to be in 5 of his joints; his right ankle, his wrists and both his knees.
He is such a strong and happy little boy; surprising really with his weekly trips to hospital for his medication, that surpresses his immune system. It is impossible to explain to him why he needs to see a senior consultant every week, why he has more hospital appointments in 6 months then most pople have in their life and why he may have this disease for the rest of his life.
He is often in pain, struggling to sleep more than a few hours at a time, as he moves less at night he becomes very stiff. On some days he cannot walk without crying in pain, whilst other days he leads a completely normal life, it is never possible to tell.
Arthritis care raise money to support people, and their families, with arthritis, no matter their age.
Please donate generously to this worthwhile cause and help to bring an end to sufferning, in people of all ages.
We would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Great Ormond Street and Hillingdon Hospital for their hard work and dedication in helping Sebastian lead as normal a life as possible, but with your help other children and families may not have to go through what Sebastian is going through.
