Story
At the age of 33 I had my first ever panic attack, further panic attacks led to anxiety and depression and poor mental health which continued for a number of years. I think it was there long before, but I never recognised it as poor mental health. There lies the problem.
Growing up on Teesside I knew nothing about mental health and how important it is to look after it. When I needed help, I didn't know where to turn and I didn't feel like I could reach out for fear of being ridiculed, judged as not a 'man' and because my ego and pride told me I could deal with it on my own. Well, I couldn't, and it nearly cost me, my friends and family dearly.
Teesside needs as much support as possible at the minute with mental health and the work Mind does in the area is amazing. Please support myself, my fellow skydivers and Mind by donating whatever you can. Many thanks in advance.
Reach out if you need help, be kind to yourself and be kind and look out for each other. XX
About Mind and the challenge:
Since 1995 we have been helping the people of Teesside to take care of their mental health. We help over 10,000 local people every year and the demand is ever growing. We couldn't continue to do what we do without our AMAZING fundraisers and the generosity of the people who donate. On the 25th March 2023 our team of 10 will each be doing a tandem skydive in aid of our organisation. This challenge is not for the faint hearted as our fundraisers fall through the clouds from 10,000ft at up to 120mph!!!Please support their amazing efforts and join the fight for better mental health in Teesside!!
