Story
The goal:
After the disappointment of the cancellation of the Hull Marathon I am extremely pleased I have been accepted to run for the Asthma & Lung UK team Breathe.
On April 23rd 2023, I will be taking part in my first full Marathon, yep all 26.2 miles of it!
Background:
I have suffered from Asthma as long as I can remember, in fact it took a couple of years to determine why I had so many chest problems when I was a child. Once diagnosed I was able to manage the condition using preventers on a regular basis and then relievers whenever it got bad. Treatment has really progressed over the last 40 years and now with the use of a regular preventer, I take twice a day, I honestly cannot remember the last time I had to take a reliever. It has been a real game changer for me and has allowed me to follow my passions in sport throughout my, soon to be, 50 years! My father also suffers from a condition called COPD, this makes it really difficult to breathe but with medication it makes it manageable.
Asthma + Lung UK:
1 in 5 of us will have a lung condition during our lifetime. There's a new diagnosis every minute. They are the only UK charity that fights for everyone's right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs. Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UKs nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!
