Story

I'm running to help make myeloma history!

Myeloma UK's research aims to help patients live longer and live better with myeloma, with a cure as an ultimate goal. Research is critically important because myeloma is a complex cancer and although it is treatable there is no cure.

8 years ago I don't think I'd heard of Multiple Myeloma. When a very close friend was diagnosed it took a while for it register how serious it was. Myeloma is a blood cancer. Unlike other cancers it does not present as a lump or a tumour but attacks your bone marrow and overcrowds healthy blood cells. Since then, we lost my friend at a tragically young age; something many of his friends are still coming to terms with.

Moving to 2020 and this time it's my wonderful Mum with the diagnosis. This has hit me hard; I need to do whatever I can to help this fight. Treatments have moved on a lot over the last few years due to research, fundraising and the work of Myeloma UK. I am determined to do whatever I can to assist the research and hopefully one day there will be a cure for this condition. Please help me in any way you can.
