So, on September 11th this year, I will be taking part in the  "Paras 10", it is a 10 mile cross country race carrying a bergen (rucksack) weighing 35lb (excluding food water). I will be taking part as a member of a team of four. All of them a lot younger and fitter than me, so as well as sponsoring me, some moral support over the coming months will be much appreciated. As most of you who know me will know, I am partial to the odd pint and a curry. 

As well as taking part in this event i will also behoping to raise money for a charity called BLESMA (British Limbless Ex Service Men's Association) it is the national charity for limbless serving and ex service men and women and their dependants and widows.

It is the charity that directly supports all our service men and women who lose limbs, the use of limbs or eyes or the sight of an eye in the service of our country and they are with them all whenever we are needed for the rest of their lives. Their work starts with rehabilitation - proving that there is life after amputation. Their work is about amputee helping amputee - the fellowship of shared experience. Their work is about life long welfare support, about campaigning for what they deserve and about being there when old injuries come back to haunt. The youngest Member is 19 and the oldest is 99 - Truly they are BLESMA for Life.
