At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

There are currently over 750,000 people with dementia and this figure will rise to over 1 million by 2021. There is no cure, one in three people over 65 will die with dementia. Alzheimer's Society supports people to live well with dementia today and funds research to find a cure for tomorrow.

My Grandad lives with me and my family due to his suffering from dementia. The disease has not only meant my Grandad is unable to look after himself properly anymore, it has taken away the man I used to know. My family is not the only one I know to be affected by this cruel disease, sadly there are many, many more like us. It is for this reason that I have decided to run for the Alzheimer's Society, beginning with the Great Manchester Run on the 20th May 2012.

The Alzheimer's Society supports people living with dementia and their families. I would be incredibly grateful if you could support me in this cause, donating as much as you can, however big or small. Thank you.
