We fund long-term, sustainable research to find a cure for brain tumours

Story

Hello,

On the 24 April 2016 I will be embarking on my 4th (and final if Louise has anything to do with it) marathon . No disrespect to Manchester, Berlin and Rome, but this is the big one and the one I have always wanted to do. London.

Given my recent history of knee trouble I will not be pushing for a very low time, anything under 4 hours would be great, but I have still put the hours into training over the last months.

I will be raising money for Brain Tumour Research in memory of my friend Patrick Ebbutt who died as a result of a brain tumour in 2011. Paddy was a firm believer that the work that BTR was and is doing is hugely worthwhile and generating significant and tangigle results. Hopefully these results will mean that treatments to cure this horrible disease will improve rapidly and fewer people will die as a result. However, research costs money and charitable donations play a big part in funding.

With this in mind I would appreciate any sponsorship that you can spare. I do not have a charity place in the marathon and so I am not obliged to raise money justify my place, not has the charity had to pay for a place for me. Therefore, all of your donation will go into funding research.

Your support will make those later miles go quicker and make the pint of Guinness after it much sweeter.

Matt

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
