I'm raising money for Tearfund's work in Bolivia - the poorest country in South America.

The Tearfund projects this year will focus on helping support Bolivian organisations that work with street children and the children of prisoners, as well as working with local young people to educate them about HIV/AIDS. They will send out teams of British volunteers to help support the Bolivian organisations for 10 weeks at a time.

I will be leading one of these teams in April, and I am being funded by DFID. This fundraising is not to support me, but to support all of Tearfund's work in Bolivia.

I will be working with British and Bolivian volunteers at a community centre 8km outside of Cochabamba teaching english and computer skills, running workshops on drug and alcohol abuse, and coaching sports teams.

In this area, parents work very long days and often go away for days at a time to work. This means many of the children in the community are left alone to fend for themselves and as a result often turn to drugs, alcohol or gangs, all of which are common in the community.

The centre, Fortin de Niño, seeks to provide a safe place for these children aged 3-17, providing them with education, food and recreational activites.

I am trying to raise funds to help support this, and other, projects working with vunerable children in Bolivia. All procedes will go to Tearfund and will be used to support the ICS projects such as the one I am leading this April.
