Story
The idea of Henry attending the RDA centre came from his physiotherapist when Henry said to her. “ I know I need to do my exercises but they are not fun..Henry is not having fun!”
So we attended our first session, I wasn’t convinced that Henry would enjoy himself but we had to give it go. Henry ran out of the stables a few times, hid behind a tree, tried to get back in the car. He even tried to convince me that they didn’t have a hat that would fit him! All while crying and shaking because the anxiety was too much. But slowly the instructors and volunteers managed to coax Henry back in and introduce him to “Charlie” the pony he would be riding. They were fantastic, patient and caring. I arrived with an anxious reluctant little boy but left with one who was so proud of himself and what he had achieved. He had a huge smile on his face, especially as he could now enjoy his physiotherapy on the move!
The RDA relies on an army of volunteers to provide the many classes each week., who regularly give up their time and energy to ensure that the children and adults that attend a class enjoy themselves learn and have fun.
They really are a fantastic group of people who are such a worthy cause
