We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

On 1st Oct 1988, as a 15 year old, I got out of bed early and watched the incredible achievement of the GB Men's Hockey team. They beat Germany 3-1 to win the Olympic gold medal with Imran Sherwani scoring twice and BBC commentator Barry Davies saying the famous line "Where were the Germans but frankly who cares?". An iconic moment in sporting history.

Fast forward 3 years and I was fortunate enough to be selected for a  Staffordshire County side that included Imran himself. I sat in awe in the back of his car alongside his new born son Aaron on the way to play in Cornwall. I'm not sure how impressed Imran was with the stinking student in the back though!

5 years later we both joined Leek HC at the same time, the stars aligned and after several promotions the club from a little market town gained National League status. Something that I know Imran values highly amongst his achievements.

Imran was the best left-winger in the world with an intense desire to win. But at the same time he is the nicest, most humble man you will meet. I'm proud to call him a mate.

Sadly, Imran has been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's and I'm looking to raise a few £££s to support the charity. Any donation is appreciated.

Many thanks,   Matt/Stan
