Story
I’m taking on Dryathlon® and raising money for Cancer Research UK.
I am ditching the drink for the month of January, no mean feat as it will be a stressful month and I like a pint, as you know :)
On a serious note it will be good for my health and show I can have will power with the drink.
The main reason that I am doing this is that my beloved Grandma Mary Matthews (simply an Angel to me), died horribly from Breast Cancer. She was like a second mother to me as my father worked away alot and my mum had to juggle jobs and kids.
She always thought of other people first, and that kindness ultimately killed her. She "didn't want to worry us or the Doctor" about her lump.
By the time it was diagnosed her tumour was the size of a melon and she endured chemo and a slow, horrible death.
It was simply heart breaking for me to see her like that. Her last words were "I love you all".
If I can go without a beer for a month it is nothing, but if you donate to this cause it would mean the world to me and other Mary's out there going through the same ordeal.
