British Gas Great East Swim 2012 · 16 June 2012 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Having only ever been a pool swimmer (ok except for on holiday) and never more than a mile, what an earth would possess me to take on a 2 mile open water swim?!?!

In June 2007, my dad (then 57) suffered a stroke from which he would never recover, he passed away a week later.

Dad was a keen swimmer in his youth and so, five years after his passing, it seems appropriate to pay tribute to him by undertaking a challenge which I think he himself would have relished.

If I can, with your help, raise money for the Stroke Association who in turn provide advice and support for those that have, themselves, suffered a stroke or those that care for stroke sufferers then all the better.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
