Story
The Not Forgotten supports wounded serving personnel and disabled veterans. Fundraising from The JTI Big Walk 2022 will enable the charity to address isolation and loneliness amongst service veterans in care homes across the UK, something they have felt more than ever over the past two years. Founded in 1920 by American Soprano Marta Cunningham, who encountered lonely, injured WW1 soldiers residing in a hospital and wanted to make sure these men were Not Forgotten and offered to take them out to tea. Marta wrote in 1937 as long as there are sufferers so long will The Not Forgotten be needed. Today, The Not Forgotten remains true to Martas original principles of providing entertainment and recreation to those injured in the service of their country. The Not Forgotten provide comradeship and challenge events, which improve physical and mental health, address isolation and loneliness, and promote a sense of community for those in need.
