Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Sunday 4th October the London Marathon was scheduled to take place, unfortunately now postponed until Oct 2021, so I'm undertaking my own 'walking' marathon on the same date instead!
Since lock-down in March, I've made a concerted effort to get myself fitter, and have been walking the many footpaths of Epping Forest (dragging my kids with me and getting photo-bombed by horses!). I've come up with a route that links up the footpaths I've become so familiar with. I hope to get it done before nightfall, simply because the many noises of the forest (and an overactive imagination) all become a bit creepy once the sun goes down!
I'm raising funds for Whizz-Kidz, a national charity that provides equipment and support for young wheelchair users across the UK.
As lock-down eases, many of us who have been self-isolating will be returning to some kind of normality and enjoying many of the things we used to. But for young wheelchair users, many will remain in a restricted world, with trips to see friends, college or university remaining incredibly difficult.
With the right support and equipment, young people will have the choice about where they go, what they do and who with; independence others can take for granted.
Unfortunately, as with all charities, the pandemic has had an impact on Whizz-Kidz income, with them facing a 20% reduction by the end of this year. So they need your support now more than ever, to ensure they are there for young wheelchair users, and able to continue to provide the life changing support they do to many wheelchair users across the UK.
So please be generous and support not just my marathon effort, but the many young wheelchair users across the UK that use Whizz-Kidz services.
Thanks very much.
Matt
