Story
Hey!
I am running the London marathon and here's the reason why!
The London marathon is something I have always wanted to do, I enjoy setting myself a big challenge and after several years of unsuccesfuly applying for the ballot, an opportunity crossed by path that I could not turn down.
Born in 1924 in South Africa, my nan moved to the UK before the outbreak of WWII. Having seen first hand the struggles that children face around the world she always played a part in charity events however she could. In her later life she supported Hope for Children by knitting teddies and blankets for children living in both Hertfordshire and overseas. For her work she received an award from the Guild of Mastercraftsmen.
On a chance encounter with the CEO of Hope for Children, we were talking about different ways the charity could raise money and she mentioned 'Mrs Stitch' the lady that use to make the teddies. We put two and two together and realised we were talking about my nan who is sadly no longer with us.
Having had the revelation I tried to think of how I could help raise money for Hope and that's how my marathon journey began. Training for the marathon is going to be super tough but I am ready for the challenge!
Please sponsor me with whatever donation you can, I will post regular updates on my FB and Instagram to follow how my training is going.
Thank You!
Matt
