Story
Thanks for visiting this page, and here's a little bit more info about why I'm taking on the challenge of the London Marathon in April, and why the Trevor Mann Baby Unit (part of Brighton and Sussex University Hospital) - and their work - is so important.
Hopefully you will have already read a bit about me through my main page - www.justgiving.com/teams/warwick - but here's a little more:
Fraser was born in January this year after just 24 weeks weighing 670g at DGH Eastbourne, which doesn't have the resources and expertise to care for such early babies. Thankfully, he was able to be transferred to the Trevor Mann Baby Unit (TMBU) in Brighton.
Tragically Fraser died after 9 days, but the care he - and all the babies on the unit - received from all the doctors and nurses was truly amazing. They do their work with such amazing dedication, compassion and understanding of the difficult situation that parents and families find themselves in. Those 9 days were so special for us, and we are so thankful for that time with our beautiful son.
Thankfully, with this specialist care available, babies do thrive despite their troubled start to life. But, as you might expect, the cost of all of this is extremely high. The unit continues to rely on charity donations to maintain their high standards, and we understand it costs £60,000 to equip just one intensive care cot. It costs £120,000 to staff one cot for a year with specially trained staff.
Any donation you can make will be a vital contribution to the unit, and Fraser's life, although short, will mean help for other parents, families and babies.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
