Story
In November 2017, our son, Alexander, was born 3 months earlier than expected in Gloucester Hospital. He weighed only 970g at the time and spent the next six months in hospital either there or in Bristol.
He was, it is safe to say, a bit poorly. It's hard to look back at photos now and remember clearly how ill he was (or how small he was), but...he's now 5, at school and tearing about so much you'd never know, which is amazing!
While he was in Gloucester, he was looked after on the neonatal ward. The care he received there was amazing and is supported not only by the NHS but also by Scoo-B-Doo, a charity that raises funds for additional medical equipment, support for parents and training for staff.
I'm now a Trustee of Scoo-B-Doo and have decided (somewhat crazily) to run the West Highland Way Challenge in May 2023 with my old compadre, Ian Callaghan.
This is 95 miles from Fort William to Glasgow and is completed non-stop in up to 35 hours. Eeeek!
Any support you are able to provide to aid the work of Scoo-B-Doo would be amazing. Recent things we've funded include funded incubators, imaging equipment, Resusci babies, video equipment so that parents' can see videos of their children if they aren't able to get onto the ward, and more.
