At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

On April 11th I will be running the Paris marathon for the Alzheimer's society. Alzheimer's is the most common form of Dementia affecting around 420,000 people in the UK. It is a progressive disease which means that over time more of the brain becomes damaged and the symptoms become more severe.

4 years ago my dad was diagnosed with the disease and this year his condition has deteriated to the point where he requires full time care. This means that he can no longer stay at home with mum, It's terrrible to see your  own family suffering from this debilitating disease. Alzheimer's is not restricted to older people and its frequency in younger sufferers is increasing. There is currently no cure for this disease.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So, if you can donate a little something then I'm sure it will help

Many thanks for your support.

Matt
