Fundraising for SOS Children's Villages UK
Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our charity page. As you probably know (you may even have been lucky enough to be invited!) we are getting married on 27 August 2011
As we have both been blessed with so much, we wanted to do something for people who have had less fortunate starts to their lives on our wedding day. We have therefore chosen to support the SOS Childrens' Village in Cape Town, and have invited all our wedding guests to make donations to the charity instead of giving traditional wedding gifts
SOS Childrens' Villages is a charity dedicated to providing accomodation and education for orphaned children in secure family environments close to some of the poorest communities in the world. We have decided to support the Cape Town village as Ivy is really a Capetonian (despite incongruously supporting the Bulls / Sharks depending on who's winning at the time). SOS Children's Village Cape Town is located about 10km away from the city centre and consists of 15 family houses and many extra amenities including a multi-purpose hall, a library, a computer lab, and a sports field. Up to 150 children can find a new home in the fifteen family houses at any one time, each getting an SOSmum and some siblings too!
Your money will help these children and their SOSfamilies, be it with school fees, clothing and food, or social and medical support. We both plan to visit the village the next time we are in South Africa to see how the money raised has been spent. Any amount, no matter how small, will help us to reach our fundraising target
