Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm Matt Rodda, the Labour MP for Reading East. This year I was due to run the Sage Reading Half Marathon on Sunday 18 March 2018 in aid of Launchpad. Unfortunately the event was cancelled due to snow, so instead I am pledging to run the 'Maidenhead Easter 10' on Good Friday, 30 March 2018 - again in aid of Launchpad.
Launchpad are a local homeless support charity based in my constituency. They help some of the town's most vulnerable and disadvantaged people turn their lives around to fulfil their potential.
The charity provides three services to prevent homelessness in Reading:
Housing with Support: They house 140 people and with individual targeted support, help get their lives back on track.
Preventing Homelessness: Launchpad's 'floating support' service is for anyone in unsuitable accommodation or at risk of becoming homeless, supporting over 400 Reading people each year, 25% of whom are vulnerable families.
Drop-In: For anyone in Reading who needs housing or homelessness-related advice, by helping to prevent a problem becoming a crisis. Hundreds of people use the Drop-In service for advice, guidance and support.
Launchpad began as a soup kitchen in 1979 and used to be known as Reading Single Homeless Project until 2011. Today, they’re called Launchpad Reading. Based in bright premises in central Reading, they provide accommodation, support and education to people in the town who need help.
Thank you for your donation to my efforts to support Launchpad. Every penny helps give those in Reading a hand-up, not a hand-out.
Many thanks,
Matt Rodda MP
