Story
Hi people,
As many of you are already aware, sadly last year on the 22nd February 2021 I lost my 23 year old brother to a sudden and unexpected cardiac arrest.
Losing Dan has left an irreparable void in the lives of all of the people that knew and loved him. Despite this inconceivable loss we must make sure that his passing is not in vain and that some good can come of this awful situation.
In an attempt to raise awareness of ‘Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome’ (SADS), Myself, our cousin Ryan and Dan’s close friends - Kyle, Brad, Liam and Jacob are running the 2022 Hastings Half Marathon in his memory.
By participating in this event we are aiming to raise as much money as possible for the charity ‘Cardiac Risk in the Young’ (C.R.Y) who provide, free and vital screening, research and support to all effected families (including mine).
Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome’ (SADS) takes the lives of 12 young adults every week, and after road traffic accidents and suicide, is the largest killer of young adults in the UK, with Dan sadly being included in these awful statistics.
If you didn’t know Dan he was a fit an healthy 23yr old lad with no known health conditions. At the time of his passing he had his whole life in front of him, he had a good job, a fiancé, a 5 month old daughter and what should have been a bright and prosperous future. Sadly this was all taken away on that awful day, I hope by raising awareness of this we can help prevent this happening to someone close to you.
Me, Ryan and Dans friends have set up a joint 'Just Giving' page for this event with all the proceeds going to C.R.Y. Please donate where you can and raise awareness of this silent killer.
From Myself, my family, Kyle, Brad, Liam and Jacob, we all thank you in advance.
Cheer us on, we are going to need it!
Xx
Also a big thank you to Dan's previous Employers - JenCo Electrical Ltd for sponsoring our T-Shirts. Dan started with them as a young apprentice at the age of 16 and worked with them right up until he sadly passed away in February last year.
