Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

in September of last year my friend Claire's dad was diagnosed with Myeloma which is a cancer arising from your plasma cells, a blood cancer.

Myeloma is incurable but thankfully highly treatable. It is exceptionally rare, accounting for only 2% of all cancers.

It is a relapsing-remitting cancer which means that the patient goes through cycles of chemotherapy, hopefully goes into remission and the patient will then stay there for either a few months or a few years before the cancer ‘returns’ at which point they need to go through the chemotherapy cycle once again.

Because Myeloma is so rare, the charity, Myeloma UK does not get as much support as other cancer charities albeit they are all of course worthy. The charity is a huge support to patients and their families as are the Northern Cancer Centre at the Freeman who have been simply phenomenal.

So I’m running the great north run!!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you!
