A huge thank you to our friend Matt Minshall who has smashed his ‘Walk for Resolution’ challenge, walking 40km to mark the 80th anniversary of ‘Operation Chariot,’ the Raid of Saint Nazaire (1942)
At the end of the walk a small ceremony was held at the War Memorial at Batz-sur-Mer where Matt lay a wreath on behalf of PTSD Resolution and the Union National des Combattants - and - being multi-talented, played ‘The Flowers of the Forest’ on the electronic bagpipes as a tribute to the fallen. In true French style the event was completed by a Vin d'Honneur
Excitingly, it looks like the walk may be the first of many - and may become an annual pilgrimage. Is this something you might be interested in? Let us know!
Also - it should be mentioned that Matt managed to complete his challenge after sustaining a serious knee injury last year. He was determined to complete the challenge on the 80th anniversary of the raid, and so pushed through - “It is very important to me personally to complete this walk, to honour the courage of the Commandos and to raise money for service people who need help now.”
Matt’s definitely put in the work. Now let’s help him reach his goal to raise £2,000 for Veterans’ mental health - he's 56% there! Even the smallest contribution can make a BIG difference to Veterans, Reservists & families dealing with trauma:
