Story
As I am sure many of you know, Multiple Sclerosis is a condition that has impacted both close family and friends of mine. It is a condition that currently has no cure and although lots is being done to help with symptoms and support those effected there is still so much more to do. MS currently affects more than 130,000 people in the UK. The condition reduces function of the brain and spinal cord with symptoms significantly impacting movement, memory and basic bodily functions.
Everyday I am completely inspired by the resilience and positivity shown by those closest to me in dealing with the disease and in an attempt to raise awareness, increase funding for further research and to help those suffering I am going to be taking on the Bolton Ironman Triathlon on the 3rd July. For those who are not aware of the disciplines involved in undertaking a full Ironman triathlon, I will be aiming to complete a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle and 26.2 mile marathon run all before the cut off time of 17 hours.
Amazing work has already been done and is continuing to be done to help those who need it most. The MS Society are continuously looking at new research methods to find a cure, however the work is ongoing. In support I am looking to raise £2000 in trying to achieve this. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated in the fight to help better understand and work towards finding a cure to eradicate this debilitating disease.
