Story
Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page. I am doing this walk in memory of my friend and colleague Martin Payne who sadly passed away at the age of 46 from a rare cancer - pseudomyxoma peritonei.
The charity I will be raising funds for is Lymphoma, which Martin would have wanted to support, as his mother Margaret has had to fight and also live with TWICE !
Lymphoma Action is the UK’s only charity dedicated to lymphoma, the fifth most common cancer. We’ve been providing in-depth, expert information and wide-ranging support for over 30 years, helping thousands of people affected by lymphoma. Our work drives improvements in the diagnosis, treatment, and aftercare of lymphoma. We’re here for everyone affected by lymphoma. https://lymphoma-action.org.uk/
Sadly, my running days are over after breaking my ankle in 2022 whilst training for the Brighton marathon. Even though I had treatment and recovered, my ankle has never been the same since, to the point it takes longer to recover from running, and afterwards I walk around like an old man for a few days...or maybe that's just my age. However, as I'm still fit to walk, I will be walking a marathon on Sunday the 25th of June at Chasewater as part of The Snickerthon managed by How Hard Can It Be Events.
