Story
7th July 2017 was the worst day of my life. My girlfriend (now wife) Jen was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, with a matter of days to survive without treatment. She spent most of the next 7 months on Ward 625 of Birmingham's QEH and took part in the AML19 Clinical Trial.
In February 2018 after 4 rounds of brutal chemotherapy and access to drugs on the trial which are now a standard of care for AML she was released and made a brilliant recovery. In September 2018 we both took part Cure Leukamia's London to Paris cycle ride.
We got married in 2021 and 5 years on from diagnosis I am taking on my first (and only) marathon for Cure Leukaemia. CL are a growing national charity raising vital funds for research offering patients across the UK hope in their battle Your generosity means Cure Leukaemia can help the prospects of blood cancer patients by funding more nurses and running more clinical trials through the Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP) network of 12 centres across the UK.
In short, your donation directly funds research into treatment and will enable more people like us to live brilliant lives after devastating diagnoses, and the pain of dragging myself round 26 miles is nothing compared to the brutality of cancer treatment.
